Orientation Quiz

Most lessons in this course end with an online quiz. These will be timed quizzes that require you to answer between 10 and 20 questions and transmit your answers to the instructor. You will typically have about one minute per question - the elapsed time will appear in the bottom of your browser frame. If you exceed the amount of time allowed a significant penalty will be deducted from your score. You will receive a one-minute warning to let you know that it is time to press the "submit" button.

Your Orientation Quiz is based upon the syllabus, frequently asked questions and other things that you were asked to read during the first lesson. You can find a link to it on the "Announcements" page. Just press the "Announcements" button and scroll down the page to find it. The questions will test you on your knowledge of the policies and format of this course. Here are a few things that you should know before you start the quiz:

  • What day of the week are assignments due?
  • What time of day are they due?
  • When are the quizzes?
  • What should I do to my computer before each quiz?
  • When will my assignments be graded?
  • What is the policy for work submitted after the due-date?
  • What is the fastest way to get an answer to a question about the course?
  • How does the discussion board work?
  • What is the penalty for an incorrectly spelled word on a quiz?
  • Is there a time limit on the quizzes?
  • Where can you get information about your classmates?
  • What should you do if you will be away from your computer for several days?
  • What advice did previous students provide about this course?
  • How long should you allow for your instructor to respond to a message?
  • Where will your assignment and quiz grades be posted?
  • When will your assignment and quiz grades be posted?
  • What is the instructor's policy on extra credit assignments?

If you can answer all of these you are ready for the quiz and have a good understanding of how this course will work.

Good Luck!

NOTE:   Please know that you can not stop the clock on these quizzes. Pushing the "Back" button, pushing the "Refresh/Reload" button, moving to a different window, disconnecting from your internet service, will void your quiz and send a message to the server reporting your actions. If one of your quizzes is unsuccessful you will need to use your single make-up quiz at the end of the semester to replace it. If you have two unsuccessful quizzes your permanent score on the second unsuccessful quiz will be a zero.
